Master Chef International Potluck 2022 – An amazing event for the food community
In Vietnam, the Potluck party is organised mainly in international schools, language centres or non-governmental organisations for domestic and foreign people to exchange culture and food. EMG Education also creates an International Potluck for Vietnamese staff and foreign teachers to exchange customs and food together.

The Original Potluck
The Potluck means a common meal in which people bring food and share with others. Potluck parties are traditional forms in many countries of Europe, which started in the second half of the 16th century and continue to expand until now. At this party, people will share food prepared by themselves with others. However, in Vietnam, Potluck parties are often operated for foreigners primarily; therefore, people tend to bring traditional food or famous food from their countries.
EMG International Potluck
There are many chances for foreigners to work positions as teaching jobs in Ho Chi Minh City when Vietnamese education concentrates more on advanced studying and self-development. Many foreigners choose to work in international schools, language centres or non-governmental organisations such as EMG Education to connect with others in multicultural environments or through international events.

On August 12th, EMG Education organised the “Master Chef International Potluck” attended by many Vietnamese staff and foreign teachers from different countries such as England, America, Australia, Ireland…
Despite foods from different countries with different tastes, EMG-ers still enjoyed absolutely the party and had their new favour food at the end.

There were many special foods in Vietnam including Bun dau mam tom (Rice vermicelli with fried tofu and shrimp paste), Banh it (Vietnamese little cake), and Banh bot loc (kinds of dumpling). And other foods such as baguette, croissant (France), caramel brownies, Indian Carry and so on. Sharing special dishes aid EMG’s staff to comprehend other’s cuisines. EMG-ers also spent more time sharing the ingredients, the original and the history of foods as well as how to prepare foods.

During the International Potluck event, EMG-ers had time to communicate with others to share working experiences or some stories related to their countries.
In spite of its various operation forms, the major point of Potluck is to provide an outgoing and exciting environment to connect with other people. Potluck parties aid people in many countries to expand their relationships and make new friends.
In a multicultural environment, EMG Education usually makes an effort to support its members to have opportunities for expanding their relationships, exchange and interact together as much as possible.

Staying in a new environment makes foreign staff of EMG Education feel homesick to some extent; hence, a party such as Potluck is one of the best methods to mollify their feelings. In addition, Potluck parties also support EMG-ers to learn new knowledge about other traditional foods and have a memorable experience. Teaching jobs in Ho Chi Minh City generally bring many opportunities with good treats for foreigners.
